BBC Radio 4: The Empty Cases

β€œIn Britain, which has a selective amnesia about our colonial past , our museums and galleries reflect that.” Gary Younge

Gary Younge looks at how things might change in British museums as a result of the Black Lives Matter movement.

This was recorded during the summer of 2020 - in the middle of the Covid-19 pandemic and that the height of the BLM movement. It was a fascinating exploration in the conversations taking place within the art world. Contributors included Hartwig Fischer, Director of the British Museum and Sara Wajid, Museum of London.
